Renzo Rosso, the visionary founder of Diesel and today the head of the ready to wear Only The Brave group, wasn't called 'the jeans genius' for nothing. The story goes that at the tender age of 15, the teenage Renzo, studying textile design at fashion school in Padua, Italy, fell in love with denim and made his first pair of jeans with his mom's sewing machine. As the fabric was rather rigid, Renzo decided to scrub the denim against a piece of concrete in his parents' yard. And the 'distressed' look denim was born! Today, Diesel is sold in over 80 countries in 5000 points of sale, of which 300 are Diesel stores. A true Italian success story!
