Paul Smith's life is a real saga: he suffered a serious cycling injury when he was 17, dashing his hopes of becoming a professional cyclist. Gradually, the young man began hanging out with the intellectuals and artists of Swinging London, discovered Andy Warhol, the Rolling Stones and the entire cultural scene of the sixties. It was at this tilme that Paul Smith met a young graduate of the Royal College of Arts, Pauline Denyer. He decided that he would become a fashion designer... and she would become his wife!
Paul Smith presented his first eponymous collection in Paris in 1976.
