Moncler was created in 1952 by René Ramillon and André Vincent near the French Alpes. Owners of an enterprise that manufactured sleeping bags and tents for mountain climbing, the partners imagined the first clothing based on the use of goose down and later a complete clothing line to protect skiers against the cold. In 1968, the brand was named the official supplier of the French Alpine Ski Team and four years later the first iconic Moncler down jacket was born and quickly praised by ELLE magazine. Today, the brand is Italian owned and continues to surf on its success without fail: leader in chic clothing for extreme temperatures for children and adults. The brand now offers other products such as their Moncler down coats for children and babies. They also offer a summer kids collection with mid-season Moncler jackets, pants, sweatshirts, dresses and swimsuits!
The Moncler story
The must-have brand for luxury down jackets, Moncler definitively entered the league of big fashion players thanks to its art-meets-fashion concept, Moncler Genius. Since it has been showing at Milan Fashion Week, Moncler has proven that cold weather and extreme temperatures are no obstacle to fashion! Catwalks? So last season, darling! Always at the cutting edge of innovation, Moncler presents its premium collection through experimental immersive installations in which several underground stylists reinterpret the famous Moncler down jacket with capsule collections that reflect their own style. And so, Simone Rocha or Hiroshi Fujiwama have delivered their own vision of Moncler style. In other words: how the iconic down jacket can form the basis for a whole new concept.
Because since 1952, Moncler has been dressing men and women using only the highest standards. A specialist in duck down jackets, the French brand initially supplied mountaineers, subsequently becoming a mainstream brand at the start of the 70s with more lightweight down jackets in pop colours. Moncler ventured into the world of fashion in 2003 after the brand was acquired by Remo Ruffini. A women's ready-to-wear couture line, a store on the rue du Faubourg Saint Honoré in Paris, then in Megève, Milan, Aspen and Gstaad, followed by a ready-to-wear collection for men... Moncler has been successful with head to toe collections and down jackets that are the pinnacle of fashion. Unmissable catwalk shows, collaborations with Castelbajac, Fendi or Comme des Garçons, Moncler invades the pistes, podiums and pavements with their avant-garde quirkiness, which is adored by glamour icons, casual style fans and can be worn by the whole family.
2009 is a real turning point for the brand. The brand expands its range with Moncler S, Moncler Gamme Bleu and Moncler Grenoble, the Moncler technical clothing range designed for use in the mountains, as well as the Moncler Children clothing line.
Down jackets for girls, boys and infants are created using exactly the same design processes as those used for the adult models. To guarantee that customers can be sure they are purchasing a genuine Moncler jacket, the brand innovates again by creating a unique traceability system. Coloured nylon, a Moncler logo, premium fill and luxury quality are the attributes that are distinctive in these lightweight down skiing jackets, gilets, hooded jackets and longline jackets or parkas for 4-14 year olds. Moncler Children offers all the brand's iconic features in a mini-me version and spring-summer, autumn-winter collections for an all-season wardrobe. From Moncler Children jumpers and gilets to polo shirts, French excellence and know-how are combined for little fans of the brand.
