In the garden with Dolce & Gabbana

In its efforts to cultivate a close link between women's and children's fashion, Dolce & Gabbana is turning to nature for inspiration: this season, the hydrangea is queen.

Dolce & Gabbana prides itself on its purely Italian manufacturing. But its references can sometimes be found far beyond the Italian border. Proof of this can be seen in its brand-new, irresistible collection… The Ortensia ("hydrangea" in Italian) collection is inspired by the composed luxuriance of British gardens, or the vegetation around a Sicilian villa once owned by a wealthy British family. Dresses, skirts, shirts, sweaters, hats and shoes all evoke the beauty of a majestic bouquet of hydrangeas, no matter the shape or material. Lettering and butterfly details only add to the rural charm of these rustic yet luxurious pieces.
The Ortensia collection for fashion-forward little girls and chic babies asserts its summer style while cultivating its territory as a timeless range: hydrangeas have long served as inspiration. Even for writers: Robert de Montesquiou was inspired by blue hydrangeas, while Marcel Proust spoke of the "cryptomeria-colored velvet of natural lawns bordered with the porcelain of pink hydrangeas"…
