Fall is one of the best times to visit Brooklyn. Harvest festivals bring collections of flame-colored gourds to stoops all over the city, and the weather is just right. Visit Brooklyn Botanical Garden for fantastic kids events and a walk in the woods, admire open houses and exhibitions through October, the city’s design and architecture month, and enjoy Halloween with dress-up parades, festivals and music.
. The Bluestone Road Residence .
An hour or two north of New York takes you to forests of brass, copper, saffron and deep red leaves, farms offering hayrides and pick your own pumpkins, and winding walks along quiet rivers. We love Woodstock for its alternative, creative scene but we also love Saugerties for countryside walks and farmer’s markets, and the Catskills for animal sanctuaries and skiing as the year goes on.
. The Capitol Hill Residence .
There’s a big event happening in DC towards the end of the year (so we hear!) and it’s going to make history one way or the other. Get acquainted with the city before then by cycling the National Mall, stopping by the newly re-opened National Gallery of Art East Building and eating that traditional favorite, half smokes, at the Taste of DC festival in October.
