Hello Melijoe readers, Victoria here. Im a twenty-something mom, wife, and lifestyle blogger from New York who loves fashion, creativity, photography and styling. Being a mama to two girls - Esmae, my three year old toddler and Rose, my newborn baby, has allowed me to really indulge with fun fashion brands and styling. My passion for children’s fashion rooted from the year I had my first child, and it's been such an amazing outlet for creativity ever since. I'm very happy to share today with Melijoe's community my last family pictures, shot just before and after Rose was born...
With our first we had a few names in mind for both genders when we went in to have her. Once we found out our baby was a girl, we immediately felt she was an Esmae over the other name we had selected for a girl. The meaning of Esmae (meaning esteemed and beloved) was ultimately what connected us to that name. With Rose it was quite different. Her name was selected before I was even pregnant. I had a gut feeling prior to being pregnant that our next baby will be a girl, and her name would be Rose. Once I was pregnant and we found out it was indeed a girl early on, we just knew she would be called Rose.
Esmae has a very large outgoing personality and that comes with knowing what she likes and wants. She loves glittery accessories, dresses, headbands and purses! She has a great blend of girliness with a touch of tomboy with her love for sports. So far she has loved everything I put on her, and for fun a lot of times I let her choose her own shoes or hair accessory to have her feel included. She does especially love “princess dresses” which to her is any dress with a flowy full skirt.
The first time mom in comparison to the second time mom is quite different. The first time I had a lot of “must haves”. Second time around I try to keep it more minimal and practical. For me its important to keep relaxed and calm prior to baby arrival, and most importantly, organized. I made sure everything was ready at home and in my hospital bag. My best advice for a new mom? Relax, don’t stress over the small stuff, and enjoy the little day to day moments as much as possible. Be present.
1-2 hats or bonnets, a onesie, socks, 1-2 swaddles, little mittens to prevent face scratches, take home blanket, take home outfit, depending on the weather but a little pram suit or jacket, a pacifier, Honest Company healing balm (I put this on everything).
My sister in law gifted Esmae a little baby soft bristle heirloom brush with her full initials engraved on it. It's such a sweet gift I enjoy, use a lot and cherish! I also saved a few pieces of clothes from when Esmae was a baby for Rose. When I see Rose in Esmae's newborn pieces it is so emotional and special to me. Some of the pieces were handmade and embroidered, just really special items. The second time around when I was putting those pieces on Rose, it just would fill me with gratitude and joy knowing I had two healthy babies to love.

This is a TOUGH one! But for babies I love Belle Enfant, Bonpoint, Tartine et Chocolat, Atelier Choux for swaddles, a lot of Spanish knitted brands too just to name a few. For toddlers I really enjoy Gucci pieces and shoes, Bleu Comme Gris, Dolce & Gabbana florals in the summer, Jacadi and Il Gufo.
For me - fabric is very important. I love cashmere in the fall/winter because its so practical for me and where we live. In the spring and summer, I love breathable cotton and linen mainly for comfort and practicality. I think its better to invest in fewer pieces with higher quality fabric that you can wash and wash, and use and reuse from baby to baby, rather than spending the same amount on 7-10 pieces that you might have throwaway after the baby has outgrown them. But realistically speaking I know budget is a huge factor for many, and sometimes some things are unattainable. For those situations I highly recommend to check out second hand quality pieces that come with affordable price tags and a route that is friendly to the environment. The amazing thing about responsibly sources pieces is that they are usually timeless and sustainable. Which is why I'm reusing 95% of my daughters wardrobe with my new baby!
We love crafts! From painting to coloring, building etc. Esmae loves to get creative and we enjoy doing these things together. Rose is still quite small, but we enjoy our cuddles with her at the moment.
