Eclectic, contemporary, romantic and inspired by Gucci's adult collections, the Gucci Kids collection embodies the quintessence of Italian artisans and their craftsmanship. Under the Creative Direction of Alessandro Michele, Gucci has redefined luxury in the 21st century by strengthening its position as one of the most coveted couture houses in the world.
The story of Gucci
A wave of folly seems to have washed over Gucci since Alessandro Michele took over the reins in 2015. Now nearly a hundred years old, the star of Italian luxury offers ready-to-wear fashions and elegant baroque accessories that flirt with haute couture. Founded by Guccio Gucci in 1920, the brand started out with a small leather goods workshop, inspired by saddle-making techniques to work the leather. Gucci designs very soon attracted a demanding clientele and, from the 1950s, the brand really took off with Gucci's four sons at the controls. The Gucci 'bamboo' bag, the red-green-red striped Gucci band, the 'double G' logo (the famous Gucci GG initials, standing for Guccio Gucci), the Jackie O bag, the Flora scarf... the first must-haves were created. The brand fell out of favour in the 80s and it wasn't until Tom Ford was appointed as the brand's Artistic Director in 1994 that it returned to centre stage with exceptional creations that were bang on the trend for bling.
Today, Gucci is the brand with the most followers on Instagram. Faithful members of the #GucciGang and fashionistas can't get enough of Alessandro Michele designs and can't wait for the next Gucci show. With a clever mix of geek-chic, 70s bourgeois, aristo-punk looks and sportswear, the Alessandro Michele aesthetic brought Gucci's flamboyant collections to life, with each piece featuring an artistic, musical or literary reference and staged against a stunning backdrop. Never has luxury and savoir-faire made vintage so fashionable... or perhaps it's the other way round.
Gucci for children
Gucci Kids is an exact replica of Gucci, but for children. Gucci dresses, coats, bomber jackets, sneakers and bags but in mini-me versions for children from 4 to 14 years of age. Sweatshirts with the double G logo, Gucci Kids Princetown mules, Gucci bee hats for children and lots more besides, Gucci's collections for boys and girls are quite dizzying. Even better, Alessandro Michele's dreamlike and slightly quirky world is the perfect match. Sequinned tigers, talking animals, lush nature, 70s typography and fun UFOs cover these luxury kids' clothes that feature his unlimited imagination in an explosion of colours and exceptional fabrics.
It's not surprising that Blue Ivy, daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z, swears by Gucci Kids alone. Each Gucci piece for girls, boys and babies tells a magical story and can be adapted to every style metamorphosis, to our great delight...
