Trend: Stripes from every angle

Unassailable and timeless, stripes are a feature of every wardrobe. As summer approaches, stripes are everywhere and in every colour imaginable. So how do you wear this iconic pattern? Take a closer look for the very best looks for babies and children.

From ships to runways

Like all great ideas, striped clothing has its origins in a practical solution, in this case as a way for sailors to be seen while at sea. Over time however stripes have swapped the oceans blue for fashion shows. The Breton shirt has become an essential element of any wardrobe for a chic or casual look. Easy to wear, stripes can be worn by the whole family, starting with the kids.

Trend wave

This season stripes are bold, colourful, unstructured, horizontal or vertical. They can be worn for a more casual or simple style for a day at the beach, or with a more refined summer look. Designers revisit the classic navy blue Breton shirt and give it a touch of full-colour freshness.

How to wear stripes this summer

For girls, we have the yellow XL stripe from Ralph Lauren and Petit Bateau, as well as wide red stripes on the Mayoral bikini and the Jacadi sweatshirt. They can also be worn vertically, such as on the Ralph Lauren polo dress, with a romantic or cool touch with IKKS or an elegant touch with Chloé.

For boys stripes can be elegant on a Bonpoint cotton t-shirt, the red and white Jacadi swimming costume or the slightly more rebellious IKKS blazer.

More stripes

The swimming costumes remain understated in the classic navy blue stripe in the Jacadi and Petit Bateau collections, as well as in the black and chocolate tones offered by IKKS.

Stripes shed their nautical skin and bring a touch of radiance to outfits for guys, girls and babies to create looks that are both timeless and fresh.
