For generations and generations, Pom d'Api creates and produces quality shoes for children. More than a century of experience and tradition to realize the importance of precise fitting properties and the careful attention to details. A savoir faire aquired and transmitted through the years guided by the passion of one family. The story begins in 1870 with Jean-Baptiste Rautureau, a shoemaker in a little village named « la Gaubretière » in Vendee, France. A legacy transmitted to his son then grandson after him to run the family shoemaking. A 100 years later, the grate grandsons, Yvon and Guy Rautureau, enter the compagny then named ERG Establishment Rautureau Gaubretière.
Tradition of Quality
Strong of an important knowledge on quality shoemaking for men, ERG already produces small collections of shoes for children with the same attention in the family workshop. The models are created exclusively from noble materials whose lines will go through time.
In 1973, Yvon and Guy Rautureau decide to expand the children range to set free their creativity. That is how Pom d'Api was created. A cheerful name at the image of the brand, referenced to the famous nursery rhyme « Pomme de reinette et pomme d'api ». The "pomme" meaning apple becomes then the common label of their creation.
Since the creative award
The brand is then immediatly known by the professionnal shoemakers for its quality and original models. In 1974, Pom d'Api receives the Creative Award in Milan. The retailers and general public discover then the innovative and poetic collections of the apple brand. Very quickly, Pom d'Api gains to be known in France and in the world. The first shop opens at Rue du jour, in the center of Paris, early 1980. New models join the collection every season, and not a drop of creativity is left aside. New shops opens in the capital, in province and at an international level. Pom d'Api has become a reference in the children shoes world.
Pom d'Api continues to draw and create successful collections by combining quality and creativity with a touch of its heritage. The brand has its own design office in which patternmakers and designers work on the growth of new models, thanks to a savoir-faire transmitted by the previous generations. Contemporary and elegant collections with just enough of creativity.
